This is a part of an on-going series about characters, actors and their experiences in the making of the spring musical Big Fish.

My name is Matthew Moment and my character is Edward Bloom, the main character of Big Fish. The story follows his adventures as a young man as well as his complicated relationship with his son, Will, in his old age.

To me, Big Fish is a few things. It is a love story between husband and wife, father and son, and a nod to the role of storytelling in humanity.

My favorite song to perform is “Fight the Dragons”, but my favorite to listen to is a tie between “Stranger” and “What’s Next”, both sung by Rocky Nardone.

My favorite rehearsal moment was when Christine (who plays my wife, Sandra) and I had to practice a scene where we kiss, and it totally went awry. Our voices both cracked at the highpoint of the piece, but this was only the beginning. We missed (our kiss) completely, and our arms kept hitting into each other. We’re really good friends, so we laughed it off and kept going with the scene.
